ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence)

About ICDL

The International Computer Driving License (ICDL) is the world’s leading end-user computer skills certification program offering youth an internationally accredited certification at no cost. The program raises candidates’ level of ICT and computer skills and increases their level of competency in using personal computers and common computer applications. ICDL also improves job prospects by providing an internationally recognized qualification.

ICDL is available in 146 countries and has been translated into 38 languages. It has become a global benchmark adopted by governments, international organizations and the international business community alike.

ICDL has its origin in Europe and is owned and coordinated by the European Computer Driving License Foundation (ECDL-F), a non-profit organization that’s based in Dublin, Ireland. The Foundation was formed to coordinate the introduction and cooperation of the ICDL/ECDL Concept throughout the world through a network of licensees. The ICDL is an international version of ECDL for use outside the EU countries. It is identical to ECDL in terms of syllabus and test content, as well as methods of testing, auditing and accreditation.

The ICDL is the only European Union recognized IT qualification at present. The ECDL-F has produced a set of standards and quality guidelines which govern the procedures for the ICDL concept and ensure its operation in a consistent manner in all member countries through adherence to these common quality standards.
